EOC Week 9 - Discussion Questions

1. What makes the Brini Maxwell television personality unique? How does her personality benefit the brand?

The television personality is unique because she dresses in vintage clothing and even the shows set up displays a mid-twentieth century modern style. She has a different personality on television as oppose to any other talk show host. She pays homage to her predecessors while maintaining a contemporary sensibility. I think her unique personality benefits the brand because you have never really seen anything like her until now.

2. What were the steps taken by Ben Sander to develop his character, Brini Maxwell? Was he successful? Why or why not?

He began to develop his character after buying bowls at a Salvation Army. With the help of his family the Brini Maxwell Show was underway. They began to have their cooking show and had segments with general household tips. He originally had Tigs Vanderveer but it didn’t take off, he then took his expertise in design and garment sewing and came up with Brini Maxwell.

3. Why do you think Brini Maxwell made it into the national spotlight on television? What was her brand’s message?

I think the character was unique enough that everyone believed in it and the idea behind it. Brini Maxwell wasn’t too stuffy or hip for the different generations. It just worked for everyone who was interested in the show itself.

4. What do you think Brini Maxwell’s target market is today? Why would baby boomers be drawn to watching Brini Maxwell?

I think her primary target market is young, urban men and women. It is for people who are just as unique as she is. Baby boomers are dawn to Brini Maxwell as well because it pays homage to that era so it’s nostalgic to them.

5. Why were the iTunes podcast and the reproduction of her old shows as vidcast a smart step toward rebranding Brini Maxwell? Would you have done anything differently?

It was a smart step for Brini because it rebranded her image after it was canceled. It brought Brini out of the 50’s and into the 21st century of new technology. I wouldn’t have done anything differently.
